Boiler Bits: Jodi Howell

With the holidays approaching, it makes sense senior guard Jodi Howell had a dream about Christmas.

But that random question is phrased "weird" dreams, and hers definitely qualifies.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? I think I'd like to read minds. I think people would usually go with flying, but I think I'm more into reading minds.

What was your favorite toy as a kid? It would probably be like a doll of some sort. My dad always had the basketball toys there, the foam basketballs, and I used those, but it usually was incorporated with a doll of some sort. If we went to the gym, I had a doll sitting under the basket waiting on me when I was done.

Is there a TV show you can't miss? I've been caught up on "The Office" and "The Big Bang Theory" lately. I tape them on my DVR, so even when we're on the road, I'll be able to watch them.

Do you live with someone and watch the same shows? Yeah, I live with one our managers, Holly, who also braids my hair. I think I've gotten her kind of hooked on "The Office." I also live with Laura Garriga, but she watches "Grey's (Anatomy)," so I haven't converted her to "The Office" yet.

They're on the same night, right? Yeah. She has to watch "Grey's" in one room, and I have to watch "The Office" in my room.

Would you be a good reality TV star? I don't think I would. I think I'm too shy. I'd get a camera around, and they'd be like, "OK, you need to say something. We need some dialogue. We need you to do something other than just look embarrassed and standing there."

Any weird dreams lately? I had a dream we had a team Christmas party, and it was an ugly sweater contest. I don't know what brought that about.

What's your ideal job? Samantha Brown from the Travel Channel. She goes around and does these great weekends, great beaches kind of thing. She gets paid for going and seeing things everybody wants to see anyway. So I think that would be a pretty cool job.

What's your motivation in life? I want to make my family proud, and I want to feel like I've fulfilled my purpose.

So you've thought about what your purpose is? I keep thinking about it, but all I can think is just to keep doing what I can do.

What's a trait that defines you? I don't know. I guess I kind of consider myself to rise to challenges that I'm faced with.

What do you think about dealing with the media? We love you guys. (laughs) No, I do appreciate everything you guys do. I guess the older you get, the more it seems like you only have to do this for so long in your life, so you better appreciate it while it's here. After this year, who's going to want to interview me for anything?

You're on a road trip and stop to get gas. What snacks do you buy? I get a Dr. Pepper, like the biggest size possible. I'm going to get me some Cheetos.

The regular Cheetos, right? They have those spicy ones now. No, I'm not a fan of those. I like the regular cheese Cheetos. And I'm probably going to get a Twix bar, too, just to hold me over. Nice healthy snacks, you know.
