Car chase victim off ‘critical’ list

A woman critically injured in a Fort Wayne crash early Saturday was upgraded to serious condition Sunday.

Officers found Capreice Brown, 38, lying outside of a Cadillac about 4:30 a.m. Saturday after the car crashed at South Anthony Boulevard and East Lewis Street.

Police believe Brown was a passenger in the car and that she was pulled out after the crash.

Witnesses told police the Cadillac and a Ford sport utility vehicle were speeding and chasing each other before both vehicles crashed.

LaGrange deputies make meth arrest

LaGrange County sheriff’s deputies made two methamphetamine busts Saturday.

The first began with a routine traffic stop about 2:45 p.m. at LaGrange County roads 1200 West and 750 North.

Police arrested 26-year-old Jessica Jean Fireline, of Middlebury, after finding meth precursors and marijuana in her car, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department said.

She also faces a charge of maintaining a common nuisance.

Later in the day, deputies raided a house at 7943 N. LaGrange County Road 1200 West after what they said was a three-day investigation.

When they searched the home about 7:30 p.m., they found a meth lab and evidence that the drug was manufactured there.

No one was arrested, though police said they requested arrest warrants for several people as a result of the raid.
