Doss, Kirlew, Saffold earn Big Ten honors

Tandon Doss received well-deserved recognition, earning a spot on the All-Big Ten first team by the media. He received second-team honors from the coaches.The sophomore receiver caught 77 passes for 962 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 80.2 yards per game, which ranked second in the Big Ten and 27th nationally.

Doss finished two catches shy of James Hardy's team mark of 79 catches, which was set in 2007.

Doss wasn't the only Hoosier to get all-conference honors. Defensive end Jammie Kirlew, voted the team's MVP, was named to the second team by both the coaches and media. Offensive lineman Rodger Saffold earned second-team honors by the coaches. Kirlew was a first-team selection by the media and second-team coaches pick in 2008. This year, he was sixth in the Big Ten with 15 1/2 tackles for loss. He was tied for sixth in the conference with 6 1/2 sacks.

Cornerback Ray Fisher, linebacker Matt Mayberry, defensive end Greg Middleton and Saffold received honorable mention recognition by the media. Quarterback Ben Chappell, Fisher and Mayberry made the coaches honorable mention list.
