Henry calls for new task force on office space

Invites elected officials from city, county to join him

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry on Tuesday called for a new task force of city and county government officials to work on ways to more efficiently locate government offices.

Henry said he, the three Allen County commissioners, three County Council members and three City Council members should work together to solve the issue of how to use the City-County Building and the Renaissance Square building at 200 E. Berry St.

"This puts every decisionmaking group at the table, precisely where they need to be," the mayor said in remarks prepared for delivery today.

Henry's speech represents a change in course for the mayor, who last week said the city would proceed alone on plans to occupy Renaissance Square.
