Peru woman rescued by truck driver in 2-vehicle crash

A Peru woman whose car struck a stalled grain truck and caught fire was rescued by the truck driver Monday night, according to the Wabash Sheriff's Department.

The accident occurred at about 9:40 p.m. on Indiana 124 at County Road 400 West.

A westbound car driven by Megan Bakehorn of Peru struck a grain truck driven by Daniel Miller of rural Wabash County, police said.

The truck was stalled at the intersection when it was hit.

Bakehorn's car caught fire, and she was rescued by Miller, police said.

Bakehorn was transported by air to Fort Wayne for medical treatment. She was listed in stable condition at St. Joseph Hospital, police said. Miller refused treatment.
