A Fort Wayne printer of coloring books, game books and other items is expanding, adding 75 jobs by 2012, it announced Tuesday.
Craftline Graphics Inc., 3505 Independence Drive, is adding to its workforce of more than 100 because it secured a contract to print children’s activity coloring books and movie trivia find-a-word books.
“We’re really excited about that,” Craftline CEO Henry Freistroffer said.
To accommodate the additional business, Craftline is investing $1.5 million in equipment and building improvements. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is providing Craftline up to $370,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $120,000 in training grants.
Freistroffer declined to name the company Craftline is contracting with for the new business. He also declined to disclose how much the new jobs will pay.
Blair West of the economic development corporation said her agency was prohibited by law from disclosing wage information on companies’ incentive applications. IEDC attorney Shawn Peterson didn’t immediately respond when asked to cite the provision in Indiana law that keeps the information confidential.
Craftline has been in business in Fort Wayne for 30 years.
“We’re one of the biggest publishers of children’s activity books in North America,” Freistroffer said.
Craftline tries to “fly under the radar” to keep other printers from coming after its business, Freistroffer said. For that reason, he declined to name the owners of the privately held company, other businesses they own and Craftline’s annual revenue.
Documents on file with the Indiana secretary of state say a business named C-Point Inc. operates out of the same address as Craftline. They list Freistroffer as president, Larry Legacher of Columbia City as vice president and Brian Domrow of Fort Wayne as secretary.
The 2009 Harris Indiana Industrial Directory says a company named Craftline Acquisition Corp. does business at 3505 Independence Drive and lists Freistroffer as its treasurer. The directory says the company’s annual revenue is about $35 million.
