Pence: Our best days are still to come

Rep. Mike Pence, R-6th, on Wednesday released the following statement concerning the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday:

Thanksgiving is a time for us to come together with family and friends to remember the blessings of God.

Let us give thanks for the grace in our lives- our families, our friends and those heroes in foreign fields fighting for our freedoms. Let us give thanks that because of those men and women in uniform, we still live in a land of freedom. "Let us also remember those less fortunate. During this Thanksgiving many families are hurting.

Many look at the days ahead uncertain of their futures. Unemployment is rising, families are struggling to make ends meet, our very values are under attack, and we remain a nation at war with a terrorist threat.

While these are trying times, trials are nothing new to the American people.

The God who blessed those who landed upon these shores nearly four centuries ago, still reigns today. From the Pilgrims’ trials to the sacrifice of our Revolutionary forefathers; from the great Civil War to the Great World Wars; from the Depression of the 1930’s to the struggles of today, the American people have fought through challenges and attacks with fervor and faith.

The Psalmist writes, ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’ I believe those words are still true today. "With faith in God and the American spirit, I believe our best days are still to come. With heartfelt gratitude for the honor of serving you, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
