Surgery for Shafranov

By Justin A. Cohn
The Journal Gazette

Komets left wing Konstantin Shafranov underwent surgery today to repair a broken bone in an undisclosed area, general manager David Franke said.

Shafranov, who has missed the last four games with a concussion, will be out until at least mid-December. Depdending on the outcome of this surgery, it could be longer now.

Shafranov has two goals and six point in nine games. He suffered the concussion when he was elbowed by Dayton's Greg Labenski, who received a five-game suspension for the act.

AvatarI'm sad to read this about Konstantin. I miss seeing him play. We need him out there. Please keep us updated JC!

AvatarI was not getting the impression this was major. I think it'll just add a couple of weeks onto his being out, but maybe not even that. Probably just depends on recovery.

I wonder if it was from what Lawmaster did to him like an orbital bone or something. Does anyone think that this club misses Mac? I for one do

I know I do! I know they're not scoring but I really wish they'd quit signing these 5ft nothings and maybe try to add a little size and toughness to this team. That's the area we lack in the most. However intensity is a real close second. Is it just me or does it seem like they skate around acting like they don't care if they win or not. How about a little hustle, and it wouldn't hurt to hit somebody once in awhile!

Gee and all this time I thought it was scoring we are lacking? Gosh

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

We're lacking in both. However, when we get all of our regulars back, we'll be fine. As soon as Mac, Shaf, and Syro back, things will be great. Can't wait for that! Oh, and Boucher, too!

AvatarI thought they said before that he didn't have a broken jaw...? Well, who knows. I guess the poor guy CAN get a break -- just not the good kind. sad Get well soon, Shafy!

And Happy Thanksgiving/Christmas-lite Day. Someone told me they saw Santa in Kroger back on November 4. What's the world coming to?
