Happy Turkey Eve!
Because we have some leftovers, were serving another plate of Thanksgiving specials:
The Lucky Moose, 622 E. Dupont Road, will have its annual Turkey Eve Party today with music by Two-Headed Chicken starting at 8:30 p.m. Specials include 35-cent wings, a $13 Royal Red shrimp dinner with salad bar, $2 pints and free kids smoothies. The restaurant will be open until 11 p.m.; its closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Fort Wayne Marriott, 305 E. Washington Center Road, will have a buffet from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday with prime rib, smoked ham, roasted turkey, grilled orange roughy, roast pork loin, mimosas, a salad bar, cold seafood bar, bread and plenty of desserts. Its $32 for adults, $30 for seniors, $15 for kids age 5 to 12, and free for children ages 4 and younger. Reservations are required; call 484-0411.
The Pointe, 3039 Goshen Road, is open 24 hours as usual and will offer a dinner special from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Enjoy turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, green been casserole, baked beans, cranberry salad and a pumpkin dessert for $9.99. The regular menu also will be available.
Switta Thai Cuisine, 5820 Challenger Parkway, will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday with the regular menu and roast turkey. Reservations are accepted; call 497-9429.
Downtown Pizza & Ice Cream, 534 W. Berry St., will be closed on Thanksgiving but will have a Black Friday deal: Pizza slices are 50 cents for dine-in and carry-out orders.. Thats a major discount; they normally are $1.85. Friday hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
DeBrand Fine Chocolates, 10105 Auburn Park Drive, will have tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Friday. Admission is $5, which includes a $5 coupon for a purchase of $10 or more that can be redeemed after the tour (the same day). For information, call 969-8333.
Waynedale Bakery has plenty of holiday treats, including mini-croissants ($9.60 a dozen), peanut butter balls ($9 a pound) and pumpkin and Swiss rolls ($10). To order, call 747-2992.
Caliente has 2nd spot
The Cuban sandwich shop Caliente is opening a second restaurant at 2000 Brooklyn Ave., on the corner of Taylor Street, formerly home to Mamas Country Kitchen.
It is expected to open Tuesday, with a similar menu as the original restaurant on East State Boulevard and a few new items.
Initial hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. It will be closed Mondays.
Bar-B-Cutie closes
Bar-B-Cutie, 301 E. Washington Center Road, has served its last barbecue dinner. The restaurant closed Saturday.
Franchise owner Don Elmore said the economy was a factor and that the restaurant wasnt generating enough traffic.
The restaurant opened in September 2008.
Gallery offers breakfast
To cater to hungry holiday shoppers, Julies Gallery will be open for breakfast this weekend.
The café, inside Village Books Novel Coffeehouse in Northcrest Shopping Center, will serve bagel sandwiches, a Monte Cristo and a version of eggs Benedict. It will open at 6 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 8 a.m. Sundays.
Julies also has two holiday catering specials available through December. Get a platter of 30 mini sandwiches with Rickles Pickles for $49.95 and 10 pounds of potato salad or pasta salad for $39.95.

Holiday at Hall’s
Halls Takes the Cake, 1313 W. Washington Center Road, is taking holiday orders for pies and cakes.
Pies ($8.25 to $9.95) include apple walnut, very berry, cherry, peach, pecan, pumpkin and German chocolate.
The popular carrot and German chocolate cakes come in five sizes, from 9 inch to a full sheet. Prices range from $22.95 to $92.95.
Other cakes are available in seven sizes, from 6 inch to a full sheet, with prices ranging from $17.95 to $89.95. Flavors are chocolate, almond, lemon, spice, coconut, strawberry, cherry, yellow, white, marble, pineapple, raspberry, red velvet and banana.
Sugar-free cakes (vanilla only) are available, too.
