Police arrested a Monroeville man on drunken-driving charges after his pickup collided with an SUV, killing an Ohio mother and injuring her teenage daughter in east Allen County on Tuesday, authorities said.

Brian Mansfield’s blood alcohol-level was 0.37 percent, nearly five times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, when he ran a stop sign at Dawkins Road and Indiana 101 about 4 p.m., Allen County police spokesman Sgt. Steve Stone said.

His southbound GMC pickup plowed into the driver’s side of a Ford sport utility vehicle that was eastbound on Dawkins. The driver died at the scene. Her teenage daughter was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Mansfield was hospitalized with minor injuries. He faces charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious injury.

The crash occurred about 3 miles from the state line.

The names of the woman and her daughter were not released, pending notification of the family.
