Two women pleaded guilty to neglect charges Wednesday, admitting to having kept their children out of school for more than a year.
Lila M. Ferguson, 38, and Molly Williams, 42, both of the same address in New Haven, were charged in June with Class D felony neglect of a dependent, accused of depriving their children of an education.
The women kept their children out of school in order to home-school them but were unaware of all the requirements for recordkeeping, they said after Wednesdays hearing.
According to the terms of the plea agreement, the women will be convicted and sentenced as if the charge were a Class A misdemeanor, and all potential jail time will be suspended.
