ANDERSON — The Indiana attorney general's office is suing to force five former Chesterfield officials to pay back more than $250,000 it says they defrauded from the town.

The lawsuit was filed this week in Madison Circuit Court in Anderson. A state audit found that former Clerk-Treasurer Chris Parrish approved questionable claims submitted by former Town Marshal James Kimm for $52,553 in mileage reimbursements and $115,391 for car repairs.

The audit also cited improper payments to a former police officer and two former town maintenance workers. Parrish resigned as the town's elected clerk-treasurer in January.

Parrish and Kimm could not be located for comment as neither have listed phone numbers in the Chesterfield area.
