A Monroeville driver has been charged with drunken driver, accused of striking Yenser's sport utility vehicle when he ran a stop sign at Indiana 101 and Dawkins Road in east Allen County.
Brian P. Mansfield had a blood-alcohol level of 0.37 percent, almost five times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Yenser,'s teenage daughter was seriously injured. Mansfield, 52, had minor injuries, police said.
He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious injury.
Mansfield was convicted of drunken driving twice more than 20 years ago. He was also convicted of being a habitual traffic violator, a felony, after an arrest in 1989, court records show.
He was arrested in December 2002 on three counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, although the charges were later dismissed.
Despite his previous arrests, Mansfield had a valid driver's license at the time of the crash, Allen County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Stone said.
