Bellmont again shooting for charity

The Bellmont girls basketball team is again shooting free throws to help fight cancer.

The seventh annual event will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 28 in the Bellmont gym.

The goal is raise $500 per participant among the junior varsity and varsity girls basketball teams. Each player, manager and coach will attempt to shooting 100 free throws and will take a straight pledge or per shot pledge.

Contributions will be made to Adams Memorial Hospital Oncology, American Cancer Society, The Jimmy V Foundation, the Bellmont girls basketball program and 2001 Bellmont graduate Meri Everett.

On a side note, the creator of the program, Bellmont assistant coach Lou Koning, recently announced this will be his last year coaching at Bellmont.

The former girls head coach, Koning has been coaching boys and girls at the school since 1979.
