Clausen is Manning finalist

Notre Dame junior quarterback Jimmy Clausen is one of 10 finalist for the 2009 Manning Award, a creation of the Allstate Sugar Bowl to honor Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

It is also the only quarterback award to factor in a quarterback's bowl performance.

Clausen threw for 3,722 yards with 28 touchdowns and four interceptions.

It is not known if the Irish (6-6) will go to a bowl game. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick said the team will wait to find out its options before a decision is made.
