NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country music items will be sold Thursday in New York by Christie's auction company.
Items include musical instruments, stage outfits and handwritten lyrics, plus property from the estate of singer Hank Thompson.
According to a news release from Christie's, a top item in the sale will be Buddy Holly's Gibson J-45 guitar at an estimated price of $450,000 to $550,000. The instrument is believed to have been crafted in 1942-43.
Another item will include a group of five Elvis Presley original Sun 78 rpm records at an estimated price of $2,000 to $3,000.
