Cree Housholder and Emma Lietzke manned a red-covered table Wednesday, wearing green and red elf hats to show their spirit.

In front of them lay stacks of green and red paper with a toy soldier drawn on them. The sheets were blank, but come next week, hundreds will be filled out with a treat attached.

Cree and Emma are members of Oak View Elementary School’s student council and sold Santa-Grams to students and staff members. For 50 cents, they could send a holiday greeting that will be delivered to a friend or teacher Dec. 16 with a candy treat attached.

“It’s kind of like a little present,” Emma said. “It’s like a little Christmas surprise.”

Student council members manned the selling table during their lunch periods Wednesday through Friday. The proceeds will go to families in need during the holiday season.

It’s the second year Oak View’s student council raised money by selling Santa-Grams. Last year, more than 800 were sold.

“I just like giving people the treats and knowing everybody’s spreading the Christmas cheer,” Cree said.
