An Ohio man is expected to face charges after faking an attack on himself, according to Van Wert County Sheriff’s deputies.
The faked attack was reported just before 9 p.m. Friday during a 911 call. The caller, later identified as Scott Foust, 52, of Delphos, told deputies he had been shot near Ohio 66 and U.S. 30 after his Ford pickup truck was stolen.
Foust also claimed he was hit in the head with a bottle and shot in the leg.
He was taken to Lima Hospital for treatment and did not suffer serious injuries, deputies said.
During an interview with deputies, Foust admitted to fabricating the story – although it’s not clear why.
Charges are expected to be filed against Foust.
The case will be sent to the Van Wert County prosecutor for review later this week.
