Leaders of the United Auto Workers union plan to nominate top Ford Motor Co. negotiator Bob King to be the union’s next president, according to a person familiar with the process.

The union’s administration caucus, which is led by current UAW President Ron Gettelfinger, will nominate King as part of a slate of candidates at a meeting of local plant leaders Wednesday. Other groups are free to nominate separate candidates. The person asked not to be identified because the nomination has not yet been announced.

Union members will elect a new president at a convention in June. Gettelfinger is following UAW policy by stepping down at age 65.

King, 63, is a vice president at UAW and its top Ford negotiator.

Nokia’s lawsuit, filed in October, claims that Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple infringes on 10 of its patents covering both phone calls and Wi-Fi access.
