Mark Wohlford has a 4.0 GPA, already has been accepted to the University of Tennessee's law school and is engaged.
He also happens to be contributing to one of the nation's top basketball teams, giving Purdue a spark off the bench with his defense and pinpoint shooting.
But for more on that, you'll have to read this. For the other good stuff, keep reading.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? This is a generic answer, but flying.
What was your favorite toy as a kid? Army figurines, like an Army man Apache set.
Do you have siblings where you guys got together and had battles and stuff? Yeah, I have two older brothers (Jonathan and Michael) who put me in my place pretty regularly when it came to sports, which was great. But one of the things we always liked to do was we'd have little Army figurines and then you'd play with marbles. So you'd set up your little figurines everywhere and then you'd have to stay across a certain point and you'd flick your marbles, and if you knocked them over, then obviously that person was out of the battle. So, yeah, we played fun games like that growing up.
Did you win? Ever? Ummm, sometimes. I lost more often than anything, in just about everything we did. It was a humbling experience. I started off a pretty sore loser and eventually had to learn to deal with it.
Is there a TV show you can't miss? It used to be "Seinfeld" reruns when I was at home. Now that I'm in school and working around basketball schedules and classes and stuff, I don't really have time to watch regularly. But I guess more recently, it would be "Entourage" because I can always download that and watch it later.
Would you be a good reality TV star? I don't think I would have enough drama in my own personal life that I would show in an outward way. I try to keep personal problems to myself and to close people around me. So I don't know if I would do a good job being one of the crazy reality TV stars, maybe more low-key type of person who gets kicked off one of the first couple episodes for not showing enough emotion.
Any weird dreams lately? I have not. I have not been getting enough sleep lately to get into a dream cycle. I've been missing out.
How much sleep are you getting? I try to get seven or eight a night. The last couple nights I've been doing quite a bit of homework as the semester winds down, so it's been diminished a little bit.
What's your ideal job? Hopefully, I go to law school. I'm not really sure what I want to do with that. This is a weird thing to say, but I guess it'd be cool to be a Supreme Court Justice. That's a pretty lofty goal, but that would be a pretty awesome profession.
What's your motivation in life? Just to develop a greater relationship with Christ every day and to live for Him and to show love to everyone around me.
What's a trait that defines you? Perseverance.
What do you think about dealing with the media? That's been amped up a bit this year, huh? It definitely is. I talked to a few people maybe in high school, got player of the game maybe a couple times, so rarely dealt with the media. I don't mind at all. It's no different than a regular conversation for me. I don't have a problem with it.
You're on a road trip and stop to get gas. What snacks do you buy? On a road trip, I always have to buy the gas station cappuccino because it's not really a coffee, it's like straight sugar, and it'll get you wired. Other than that, the food I buy is always random. It could be something different every time. But the cappuccino is a staple.
Yeah, because it depends on your mood. Maybe chocolate one day, maybe a bag of chips. Exactly. Sometimes it's got to be something salty. You never know. It could be different.
