Nick Jonas is used to performing for screaming fans who know all the words to the Jonas Brothers songs.
Now his new band, Nick Jonas & the Administration, is prepping to perform as the house band for the Critics Choice Awards, a gala airing Jan. 15 on VH1. The band will be expected to entertain and keep the show moving.
Im excited and honored. ... Well be performing a lot of covers. Intros and outros to the commercials. I think we have about 25 songs to learn, said Jonas, 17.
The singer-musician calls his band a side project. It will record an album, Jonas said, but he will continue to record with brothers Kevin and Joe.
Because the awards show, presented by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, is about movies, Jonas said his favorite film of 2009 was The Invention of Lying, which was funny and fantastic. I love Ricky Gervais.
Same goes for George Clooney.
I just saw Up in the Air and thought it was great, Jonas said.
