Indiana State Police are looking for the public’s help in identifying the frozen body of a man found on the side of the road early Wednesday near Dewart Lake in rural Kosciusko County.

Indiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Trent Smith said the body has no obvious links to active missing persons cases in the county, and investigators must wait three to four days for the body to thaw before they can perform an autopsy and identify him.

The man had no apparent signs of trauma, Smith said, though detectives are treating the death as suspicious.

A passer-by found the body about 6 feet from the east side of Kosciusko County Road 400 East, just south of County Road 1050 North, about 9:30 a.m. Investigators don’t know how long he might have been there, Smith said.

Authorities in Whitley County pulled a body that they believe is Debra Houser’s from a creek that crosses Whitley County Road 200 South on Tuesday nearly a month after the 49-year-old woman disappeared. Her ex-husband, Rodney Houser, 43, has been charged with murder in her death.

Because investigators don’t know the identity of the man found in Kosciusko County, they are asking anyone who might have information to contact the state police post in Bremen at 574-546-4900.
