Christians craft simple ornaments to celebrate Jesus

Members of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in LaOtto spent about two months making 90 Chrismons to decorate the church’s 12-foot tree. Chrismons are ornaments that represent a number of Christian religious symbols and mark the life and ministry of Jesus. The ornaments are then placed on a tree, which is called a Chrismon tree. Chrismons are often used in churches and in the homes of those who are Christian. Twelve people met at the home of Bette Hale to make the white and gold ornaments, which are needlepoint, and then finish them with beads, sequins, ribbons and pearls.
