The Komets’ frantic three-goal, third-period rally wasn’t enough to overcome one of the IHL’s top offenses Sunday.

Bloomington outlasted visiting Fort Wayne 6-5.

The PrairieThunder, who have the No. 2 offense in the IHL, have scored at least five goals in a game eight times this season. The Komets (14-9-1), the No. 1 defense in the league, hadn’t given up that many goals in a game this year.

Bloomington (13-8-3) had four consecutive goals – by four players – in a 14-minute span in the second period to take a 6-2 lead.

In the third, Fort Wayne’s Leo Thomas scored twice, and Guy Dupuis’ goal at 16:50 pulled the Komets within one.

But Fort Wayne couldn’t complete the comeback and snapped a two-game winning streak. The Komets haven’t won three consecutive games since Nov. 21-26.

Colin Chaulk and Frankie DeAngelis had two assists apiece for Fort Wayne. David Hukalo had a goal and an assist.
