Woman killed while removing dog from road

BRAZIL, Ind. – Police in western Indiana said a woman trying to remove her injured dog from a highway was struck and killed by a vehicle.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department said a witness saw Roxanne Buescher, 25, of Brazil bent over in the roadway of Indiana 340 just before the vehicle came over a hill and hit her.

The department said her dog had been struck by a different vehicle before she was hit Saturday night just west of Brazil. The driver who struck Buescher told officers he didn’t see her in the roadway and only felt his vehicle hit something.

No charges were filed against the driver.
