Woods returning

Mitch Woods is returning.

The Komets announced the popular right wing, who played for the team in 2007-08, and whose comeback attempt last summer was derailed because of work commitments back home, will join Fort Wayne in January.

"Whenever you add a former Turner Cup winner to your team, you're making your team better," general manager David Franke said. "Mitch will add energy, offense and toughness to our lineup. He will also be a great addition in the locker room. However, Mitch hasn't played pro hockey in over a year, so we will be patient with him and allow him enough time to get back into the groove."

Woods has 15 goals, 36 points and 297 penalty minutes in 73 regular-season games with the Komets.
