No ice? Saturday will be interesting

Because of a lack of ice availability and because management wanted to give the players an extended holiday break, the Komets will play their next game Saturday night without having been on the ice since Tuesday morning.

Despite what you may have read elsewhere, there won't be a morning skate before going to Muskegon, Mich., on Saturday night. There will just be a workout at Spiece Fieldhouse.

This could be interesting.

Coach Al Sims sent the players on holiday break -- and many of them went back to their respective hometowns -- with instructions to work out and, if possible, get on the ice.

With games on back-to-back nights this weekend, the Komets' legs are sure to be burning a little bit.
