Interim attorney nominated to fill post

– President Obama nominated David Capp on Wednesday as the top federal prosecutor for northern Indiana.

Capp, 59, of Beverly Shores, has been the interim U.S. attorney since 2007. The northern district handles federal prosecutions in 32 counties. The headquarters are in Hammond with offices in South Bend and Fort Wayne.

Capp has been with the U.S. attorney’s office for two decades during Republican and Democratic administrations. He has a degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.

Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., recommended the nomination, which requires Senate confirmation.
