Car hits bike; woman dies

A Van Wert woman died Christmas morning after her bicycle was hit by a car.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Dawn R. Mihm, 42, was riding on Lincoln Highway west of John Brown Road and had apparently stopped to look in her mailbox before turning in to the path of a car.

The driver of the 2006 Cadillac, Jared M. Conn, 23, refused treatment, according to a written statement from the highway patrol.

Mihm died at the scene.

Agencies assisting include the Convoy Fire Department and EMS, Brickner’s Ambulance Service, Van Wert city police and the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department.
