Two suspects were in custody on drug charges and three children were removed from a home after police following up on a burglary reported finding drugs and an active meth lab.

The Noble County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were investigating a burglary in the 4000 block of West Albion Road on Saturday and found evidence that led them to possible suspects in the 3000 block of North County Road 150 East.

They went to the home just northeast of Albion and took Anthony J. Hoover, 26, and Vernon D. Hall, 28, into custody. Deputies reported finding items from the burglary, illegal drugs and items used to make methamphetamine.

The sheriff’s department said an active meth lab was discovered in the back of a van parked beside the residence. The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was called to deal with the hazardous chemicals.

The Department of Child Services was called to take care of three children, who were described as being approximately age 4 to 14, and they were released to a relative.

Hoover was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.

Hall, who lives in Ligonier, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, visiting a common nuisance and possessing meth.

Both suspects were being held at the Noble County Jail without bond, and the sheriff’s department said additional charges might be added Monday.
