Verbatim: Bishop D’Arcy to celebrate final Mass of Thanksgiving

Statement issued Tuesday by the diocese:

Bishop John M. D’Arcy will conclude his time as the Bishop of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend by celebrating a final Mass of Thanksgiving in each of the diocesan cathedrals to give thanks to God for his pastoral service among the people.

On January 3, the Feast of the Epiphany, Bishop D’Arcy will preside at the 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend. A reception will follow in St. Matthew School.

On January 10, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Bishop D’Arcy will preside at the 11:30 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Fort Wayne. A reception will follow across the street at the Grand Wayne Center.

“Everyone is welcome at either or both of these events,” Bishop D’Arcy said, but he asks that no personal gifts be allowed, please.
