Dumb penalties = Komet goals

The Komets and Dayton Gems are tied at 2 late in the second period. The thing that's sticking out: The stupid penalties being doled out by the Gems.

Preston Briggs went after three Fort Wayne players during a single sequence this period, before finally getting penalized, giving the Komets a 5-on-3 power play in which Guy Dupuis scored to tie it at 2.

Late in the period, Matt Auffrey decided throwing Bobby Phillips to the ice would be a great idea, though he got lucky as the Komets didn't capitalize.

The Gems are the least penalized team in the IHL?

Fort Wayne has scored on 2 of 5 power plays.
