Seasons HomeCare
Address: 1101 Husky Trail, Warsaw is the headquarters, but the company serves clients in a 15-county area in northern Indiana.
At a glance: Seasons HomeCare is a state-licensed service agency that provides paramedical assistance with needs including bathing, toilet, dressing, monitoring medication, transportation, food preparation and companionship. "We’ll take on just about anything people need," said company founder Curt Hermann. But those services exclude medical care, such as drawing blood.
Employees: About 40
Annual revenue: Projected 2010 revenue of $600,000
When was the company founded: May 2007
Biggest accomplishment in the past 12 months: "I think we’re at a point where we’re able to take on all different kinds of clients and work through things they might think would" exclude them for hiring assistance, Hermann said. For example, the company places caregivers with Alzheimer’s and Medicaid patients and will contact insurance agents to lobby for coverage when the alternative would be a more expensive stay in a nursing home or assisted living center.
What are the key challenges facing your business or industry: Hermann and others are concerned about how the industry will be affected by health care reform.
What are your growth projections for the next five years: About $1.2 million annual revenue after five years
What’s one thing about your business that people might not be aware of: Seasons HomeCare places caregivers in rural homes other services might not be willing to staff. Hermann pays an experienced caregiver mileage to serve the client until he can hire someone who lives closer.
Hermann’s criteria are strict, leading him to hire only about one of every 10 applicants. He pays an independent agency to contact clients for satisfaction surveys to ensure the quality of service remains high.
