ANN ARBOR, Mich. – DeShawn Sims and Manny Harris took control with Michigans first Big Ten victory of the season on the line.
Sims had 28 points and nine rebounds, and Harris added 24 points and five assists to help the Wolverines beat 15th-ranked Ohio State 73-64 Sunday.
Sims and Harris were the only scorers during a late 11-0 run.
Your fear with Michigan is Harris and Sims getting going at the same time and thats what they did tonight, Buckeyes coach Thad Matta said. They made big plays.
Sims layup with 6 minutes to play sparked the run that gave the Wolverines (7-6, 1-1) the lead for good. Harris added a three-point play 30 seconds later that brought the sellout crowd to its feet.
It does a lot, Harris said. Beating a ranked team does a lot for our confidence.
He and Sims teamed for 25 points Thursday in a loss at Indiana but finished Sundays game a combined 22 for 34 from the floor.
We needed a lift and those two gave it two us, Wolverines coach John Beilein said.
The Buckeyes (10-4, 0-2) led 55-54 after P.J. Hills three-pointer with less than 7 minutes to play, but Michigan quickly answered and went on to beat Ohio State for the second time in 11 meetings. The visitors missed five straight shots while the Wolverines pulled away.
The drought was part of a second half that saw the Buckeyes shoot 28 percent from the floor. They were just as bad (27 percent) in the second period Thursday in a conference-opening loss at Wisconsin.
Jon Diebler scored 17 points to lead Ohio State, which lost consecutive games for the first time this season and played its sixth straight game without leading scorer Evan Turner. He might not return until early February.
No. 7 DUKE 74, No. 21 CLEMSON 53: Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith each scored 22 points to energize the Blue Devils in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Kyle Singler added 16 points for the Blue Devils (12-1).

No. 20 TEXAS TECH 86, UTEP 78: David Tairu scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half to pace the host Red Raiders (12-2).
No. 23 WISCONSIN 63, PENN STATE 46: In State College, Pa., Trevon Hughes scored 18 points as the Badgers (12-2, 2-0 Big Ten) won their sixth straight.
Talor Battle had 15 points for Penn State (8-6, 0-2).
CREIGHTON 72, EVANSVILLE 64: Kenny Lawson posted his second straight double-double to boost the Bluejays (6-8, 1-2 Missouri Valley) in Evansville.
Freshman Colt Ryan scored 26 points for the Purple Aces (6-7, 0-3).
INDIANA STATE 60, DRAKE 46: Harry Marshall scored 15 points and the Sycamores closed the game on a 21-4 run in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Sycamores (10-4, 2-1 Missouri Valley) got 12 points from Dwayne Lathan and 11 from Rashad Reed.
MANCHESTER 73, ROSE-HULMAN 59: Host Manchester hit 53 percent from the floor on 26-of-49 shooting to beat Rose-Hulman. Mitch Schaefer scored 14 points for the Spartans, and Tyler Henn added 11.
