The Komets have waived forward/defenseman Blair Stayzer, who tallied one goal and 34 penalty minutes in 13 games.
Stayzer, who had been out since Dec. 4 with a concussion, was nearing a return to the lineup. But with the Komets carrying too many players, and the impending return of another tough guy, Mitch Woods, Stayzer became expendable.
"We kind of had a numbers situation. We have a pretty healthy lineup for the first time all season," general manager David Franke said. "On Friday, we'll probably have someone healthy sitting. ... This was about the numbers, mostly."
