The Indiana women's basketball team has signed Georgie Jones, a transfer from Marquette.
A 6-foot-2 sophomore center, Jones will be eligible to play in Jan. 2011 after sitting out under NCAA transfer rules. She appeared in 37 games, starting in 19 at Marquette. Jones averaged 3.5 points and 4.9 rebounds for her career. In six games this season, she was second on the team in rebounds, averaging 6.3 per game.
"I believe that every kid deserves a second chance and we are so thankful that Georgie has decided to take her second chance with Indiana women's basketball," IU coach Felisha Legette-Jack said in a statement. "She's a young lady that can rebound with the best in the country. She runs the floor very well. She has already connected with our team and it's like they have all been Hoosier sisters for very a long time. We're glad to have Georgie as an addition to our Hoosier family."
