LaKisha Jones is a finalist from Season 6 of "American Idol."

According to the "American Idol" Web site, today is LaKisha Jones' birthday.

I remember LaKisha from Season 6 because she delivered one of my favorite performances ever on the show.

The finalists that season performed Bon Jovi songs the week of May 1, 2007. LaKisha's choice was "This Ain't a Love Song." It was soulful, it was strong, it was hers. (Watch it here.)

After she finished, judge Simon Cowell said, "I could kiss you after that." And he did. It was, as Simon would say, brilliant.

As a matter of fact, there were two other performances from that week that caught my attention: Blake Lewis' "You Give Love a Bad Name," Melinda Doolittle's "Have a Nice Day." This was my first season as a die-hard Idolholic, and this episode was one of the reasons why.

Anyway, this is about LaKisha. Happy Birthday! Come hang out if you're ever in Fort Wayne!
