Thomas' take

Deshaun Thomas' latest Q&A blog post with Luers principal Mary Keefer.

We have to talk about the Dwenger game. Your thoughts?

"The Saints played hard and they seemed to want the game more than we did. We had too many turnovers. Our point guard (Kenny Mullen) was missing. They played well in that zone. We didn't attack it. Congratulations to Dwenger. They earned this game."

Any comments about Snider?

"We knew it was going to be a dogfight because it seems like every team that we play gives us their best game. It was a fight to the end. I had a big layup (to the game late), and we all made some big free throws. I know Snider's Nick Lewis, Zach Barnes, and Brent Odom, and of course, Elijah Malone used to go to Luers."

Does it make a difference to you if you know the kids on the other team?

"No, not really, it just seems that Luers has some sort of a rival with everybody that we play."

Besides Ohio State, who's your favorite college team?

"I would say Kentucky."

Who's your favorite player?

"(Ohio State's) Evan Turner."

Why do you like him?

"He's my height, and he can shoot really well. He can play any position, and he loves the game. He's a good dribbler and he's predicted to be one of the top five players in the (NBA) draft. I wonder if he'll stay or go."

What's your favorite NBA team?

"It would have to be the Lakers. Kobe Bryant is one of the best players of the game. Their coach, Phil Jackson, is one of the best coaches in the league because he coached Michael Jordan. Coach Jackson makes his team get better. He trusts a lot of his players. He shows that by substituting freely. Kobe is a hard worker, he loves the game. He takes and makes big shots when they are needed. I love his defense."

Luers plays Northrop on Friday. How will you play against the Bruins?

"My plan is to play hard all 32 minutes on offense and defense. We will play Luers basketball. I have been hearing a lot of comments about how I play. I will let the game speak for itself and I will play my best."
