A first look: Northwestern

Purdue looks to snap a two-game losing streak when it travels to play Northwestern on Saturday.

The Boilermakers (14-2, 2-2 Big Ten) have won the last three times at Welsh-Ryan Arena, perhaps the least-intimidating place to play in the Big Ten.

Northwestern (12-4, 1-3) is playing without its best player, Kevin Coble, who suffered a season-ending foot injury.

Here is some of Matt Painter's take on the Wildcats:

"(With freshmen) we talk about how Northwestern will baptize you in terms of their Princeton offense and their back cuts. A lot of their action has a lot of counters, a lot of reads to it and you have to have discipline. There's a couple different ways to defend it, but whatever you choose to do as a coach, everybody has to be on the same page and you can't have breakdowns. When you do break down, they really take advantage of it. It's tough to prepare for Northwestern, for what they do on both ends of the court."
