Well, that was ... something.Hey, everybody. It's Ben Smith, Justin Cohn's stunt double, and we're a period into the Komets and Quad City. The Komets lead 2-0.OK, so they should be leading 2-0.In truth, it's 2-1, thanks to evening's first, ah, interesting moment. Quad City's Kyryll Katrych scored the afternoon's first goal at the 2:45 mark, smoking one from the blue line into a virtually empty net as Komets goaltender Tim Haun lay writhing on the ice after the Mallards' Jacques Perreault was checked into him. Haun went down, the puck ricocheted out to Katrych, the zebras swallowed their whistles and Katrych got a gift. Not long thereafter, Konstantin Shafranov and P.C. Drouin scored 13 seconds apart to erase the deficit ... then Brad MacMillan and Jason Goulet dropped the gloves and danced ... then Kaleigh Lincoln Schrock and Katrych traded talking points. After which Schrock did some sort of weird break-dance (think a cross between the Rockettes and a basketball official calling traveling) as he went off to the penalty box.All-in-all ... interesting.More when it's done.
