Tom Crean discussed Indiana's progress during his time as the team's coach on Monday's Big Ten teleconference. The Hoosiers improved to 8-9 overall and 2-3 in the Big Ten with Sunday's 81-78 overtime win against Minnesota.
"I'm encouraged by it," Crean said. "I don't know if any coach is ever happy in the middle of January. There's always some things you can get better at. I'm encouraged and enthusiastic about the way things are going. We really are making strides.
"We've won some games this year that a year ago we would have had no chance to win. There is still a lot of hard lessons for us to go through, I think, but when you can get a win against a Minnesota, beat a team like Pittsburgh that's playing so well, beat Michigan in the opening Big Ten game, those give the players belief and hope that this is really going to work out."
