K’s Haun, Chaulk honored by IHL

In the midst of an 8-0-1 streak, the Komets are the hottest team in the IHL, and it’s garnering the team awards.

Tim Haun was selected IHL Goaltender of the Week for the second straight week. And center Colin Chaulk is Player of the Week.

Haun was 2-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .960 save percentage. His 38-save shutout over Flint on Friday was his second straight shutout, and his 15 victories this season match a personal best set with Huntsville of the Southern Professional Hockey League in 2008-09.

Chaulk had three goals and seven points in three games, giving him a team-leading 39 points for the season.

The Komets (23-11-2) have pulled to within five points of second-place Port Huron.

Because the Mizpah Shrine Circus will be at Memorial Coliseum, the Komets play their next three games on the road, including Friday’s match at league-leading Muskegon, Mich. The Komets’ next home game will be Jan. 29 against Quad City.
