Michigan has been one of the Big Ten's most inconsistent teams.
And that may be what makes the Wolverines scary.
Michigan has lost to Indiana and Northwestern but beaten then-No. 15 Ohio State and then-No. 15 Connecticut. It also has lost to then-top-ranked Kansas and is coming off a 54-48 loss at No. 18 Wisconsin.
Here's Purdue coach Matt Painter's quick take on the Wolverines:
"They have some weapons, obviously. Manny Harris and DeShawn Sims are about as good of a 1-2 punch as there is in the country. They're very, very talented. (The Wolverines) do a great job offensively of spreading you out. They've had some inconsistencies from beyond the arc. But it's one of those things as a coach that you always feel they're going to make them against you. So you have to cover those guys and be with them. There's going to be some long rebounds, so it's going to be important for us to chase those long rebounds down. They had a great game against UConn. They led the majority of the game against Wisconsin. We know how difficult of a place that is to play in the Kohl Center. They're getting better. They're getting stronger. Everybody has some tough times during the year. They're playing some good basketball right now."
- Here's more on the shooting struggles that Painter referenced.
- Harris (19.2 ppg) and Sims (17.2) need some help and haven't got it consistently.
- Michigan coach John Beilein is concerned about defending Purdue, according to this article on Annarbor.com.
- Sims is coming off a nice game against Wisconsin with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
