Norwell trying to get Rupright rest

With the postseason looming next month, Norwell is aware of what effect sophomore center Jessica Rupright could have on its chances.

The Class 3A No. 1 Knights (17-0) are trying to give the 6-foot-2 Rupright every opportunity to heal from a hamstring injury that limited her to only a handful of minutes in last Friday's 48-47 win over New Haven.

Rupright's hamstring was still a little sore, but she played most of the game in a 58-42 win over 2A No. 9 Bishop Luers on Tuesday.

The Knights have three games remaining, Saturday at home against East Noble, Feb. 2 at Adams Central and Feb. 5 at home against Southern Wells.

Sectional play begins Feb. 9.

"We have to really be conservative down the stretch," Norwell coach Eric Thornton said. "We have some time in between games and depending on the draw in the sectional, we may have another week yet. We have the opportunity to be careful with Jess."
