A Detroit man accused of shooting a woman in the chest last week, critically wounding her, has been charged with attempted murder.
Darvon Smith, 33, is also charged with aggravated battery, battery and carrying a handgun without a license. The attempted murder charge was added Tuesday. He was being held without bail.
Police said Smith shot Jennifer Hair, 28, after the two argued Jan. 20 just west of downtown at 1212 W. Main St.
The man who rents the apartment in the duplex told police the two were arguing in a bathroom. He then heard a gunshot and saw a man running out of the house, according to documents said.
Hair, whose relationship with Smith is unclear, told police they argued because Smith doesnt like her. Smith was arrested shortly after the shooting during a traffic stop near South Calhoun and Pontiac streets. Hair was listed in fair condition Monday at Parkview Hospital.
