Irish at the Senior Bowl

Notre Dame’s football fingerprints were on the North team’s 31-13 Senior Bowl victory Saturday in Mobile, Ala.

Former Irish offensive linemen Sam Young and Eric Olsen started for the North, and former Notre Dame safety Kyle McCarthy had four tackles coming off the bench in the win.

Three players tutored by coach Brian Kelly also factored into the game.

Former Cincinnati receiver Mardy Gilyard made the biggest impact, racking up 103 receiving yards on five catches and hauling in a 32-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Gilyard was named the game’s MVP.

Former Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour, another former player under Kelly, tossed the touchdown pass to Gilyard and went 5 for 10 for 97 yards.

And former Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike was 5-of-12 passing for 45 yards.
