Next best thing to storming the floor

Know that it would have been bad form for the several IPFW fans to storm the Conseco Fieldhouse floor after the Mastodons' 62-60 victory over IUPUI on Sunday, the team went into the stands - sort of - to celebrate.

As a sign of thanks for the fans who came to Indianapolis on two buses, coach Dane Fife went a few rows deep into the stands to celebrate with the several loud, shirtless supporters. Then the team followed suit, only they stayed closer to the floor in a knot, jumping up and down, which caused a comic scene as an elderly county cop who was nearby was also bobbing up and down on the bouncing bleachers.

It wasn't the win itself that was impressive, because let's face it, the Mastodons let a 21-point first-half lead get away. It's the fact that the team regained its composure and played heads-up with the Jaguars for the second half of the second half, and into overtime.

Fife has been worried about the team unitity this season. For one entertaining afternoon, it found it.
