Eyeing IU

Crean on Roth

Matt Roth dressed, but did not play Saturday against Illinois. IU coach Tom Crean addressed the sophomore guard's status during Monday's Big Ten teleconference.

"It's really going to be what he can tolerate. He's really healing pretty well right now. There's not a total cutoff date. We're in that ballpark as we go through the next couple of weeks.

"We don't want to put him out there unless he's feeling like it's continuing to get better. It is healing. We won't put him out there until they give him that full go ahead.

Crean said Roth hasn't practiced yet. He has been out with an injured left foot since mid-November.

"Him dressing (Saturday) was good for him, it was good for our team to have him out there. I wouldn't have played him, even for a halfcourt shot," Crean said. "… Hopefully we'll see more this week. Hopefully he will be able to be involved in practice at some point this week."
