Injury report

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly had mostly good news when it came to the health of his team as spring practice draws closer.

Quarterback Dayne Crist is ahead schedule in recovering from a torn ACL.

"I think he'll be able to partake in virtually everything but contact (in the spring)," Kelly said Wednesday. "Nobody will get in his zip code area. But you will see a lot of him in the spring I think he's well ahead of (schedule)."

Kelly also said tight end Kyle Rudolph, who had shoulder surgery, is also doing well and participating in the offseason weight program.

"We are really positive in terms all of the medicals," Kelly said. "I will say this, there were way too many. We got our hands around it."

Kelly said running back Theo Riddick, who has a shoulder injury, and kicker Brandon Walker, whose season was cut short with a back injury, are the only two players unable to participate in the strength and conditioning program because of injury.
