  • A goalie guess; look at lines
Roman Will would seem to be the most likely fit to wind up in the ECHL as a goalie, but he's spent the last two seasons in the Czech Republic after an impressive junior career in Moncton. If I had to guess, it would be him.
  • K's sign 2 forwards
The Komets finalized the signing of forward Thomas Frazee, who had 24 goals and 47 points in 60 games last season for Quad City of the CHL, and also announced that they have added forward Brett Beebe to the roster.
  • Looks almost official
Center Thomas Frazee posted on his twitter account he will play for the Komets this season.

Muskegon rumors ‘n’ such

While I was watching the Komets take a 1-0 lead over Dayton in the first period tonight … I asked Komets president Michael Franke about the rumors aloft that Muskegon might be contemplating a jump to the juniors in the USHL.

It’s a move that likely would sound the death knell for the IHL (although, to be fair, some people said that when Kalamazoo took a powder, too). But while Franke didn’t totally discount the possibility, he said it’s highly unlikely, if only because the league bylaws would make such a defection extremely difficult.

He also said the rumor – which he’s also heard – apparently stems from the fact that the Lumberjacks share their building with another junior team, the Detroit club from the AAHL. Apparently that’s gotten talk going around that L.C. Walker Arena could host a USHL team eventually.

Anyway … that’s the scoop, according to Franke.
